September class - "just do it"

We are announcing the start to our fall knitting and crocheting classes.

Every Wednesday – from 1:00pm to 3:00pm  $10.00 Brenda’s back on Sept. 12th
“911 Knitting Afternoon” - It’s our version of help on demand. Are you working on a project that has you puzzled about techniques or perhaps is a bit advanced for you? Not to worry, come in on a Wednesday – it’s a drop in class where you can get the help you need to finish your project.

Every Thursday afternoon - 1:00pm to 4:00pm is our Drop in Knit Café. Its FREE  
Heather’s in the house
Bring your knitting or crocheting – join us for tea or coffee. We have a fun time.


Skills classes

Wednesday Sept. 5 –       1 -3 in the classroom Knitting 101 - Part 1 &2  = $40.00
If you are a beginner knitter or in need of a refresher course, this is the class for you. This class gives you a full introduction to knitting – knit stitch, purl stitch, cast on ,cast off, simple increase/decrease
We provide you with the 101 package – mini skeins of yarn & the Let’s knit book

Friday Sept. 7        10 – 12 in the classroom Basic Crochet = $40.00
Here’s your chance to have fun with crocheting. Learn basic stitches, crocheted edges, flowers, curlyQs. We provide you with the basic crochet package – mini skeins of yarn, one hook and the Let’s crochet book

Wednesday Sept 12 –      1 – 3 in the classroom Knitting 101 – Part 2
Review of knitting home work. Continue with lessons. One free scarf pattern provided

Wednesday Sept 26 –       1 – 4 in the classroom Beginner Sock class = $40.00

Learn the skills required to make your very socks. We start you on a small sample sock, learning each and every part of the sock.
By the end of the class you are ready to start your first pair. We provide you with the sock pattern and mini skein of yarn. Needles not included

Must know how to knit, purl and work with double point needles.

Wednesday Sept. 12   9 – 12  Make you own mannequin = $45.00 (includes supplies, bring your own tee shirt)

Here’s a fun and handy item to make. We limit the class to 4 people.
It takes the full three hours to get set up, wrap you in duct tape, take it off you and finish it up.  
Now you have something to try your sweaters on as you knit, after all it’s you…


Small Project Thursdays

Thursday Sept. 6, 20, Oct 4, 18 -    10 – 12      It’s KAL (knit along) Sweater class = $55.00
Do you want to start your fall season off with making a lovely sweater? This class runs over 8 weeks, meeting every other Thursday morning.
We help you pick your pattern and yarn. We review your pattern instructions with you (discussing buttonholes preparations, increases, decreases) so we make sure you know the instructions. As we approach the last class, we review finishing technique skills.  

Thursday Sept 13   10 – 12     Open Class day – a multitude of offerings = $20.00 (includes one free pattern)

This time we are working with patterns from www.knitty.com. Each project is full of tricky techniques. Push the envelope and try something new.

Citron – mohair shawl
Crosspatch- fair isle hat band with flat top

Knitty has wonderful designs to knit. Please check out the different offerings. We cannot supply the patterns so you must bring your own print out.  


That’s our line up for September. As always, if a timing doesn’t work for you, just let us know and we will try to arrange other times for the classes.
The beginner/refresher class will run in October in the evening and on a Saturday. Please let me know if you’d like to sign up for either of those times.

Pass this along to other knitters. We’d love to have our classes, Wednesdays and Thursdays so full that we have to buy more chairs.

Spring Sweater Knitting

Who's tired of the cold winter winds and ready to knit a great Spring sweater?  Well, I think many of us are ready for those tulips and crocuses to show up.  Have you heard about Joji's Boxy sweater line up? These easy fit fun toknit sweaters have been designed in several styles and yarn weights.  Have a  look...  The Boxy was Joji's first design like this. It has a unique construction with interesting details and lots of easy knitting.  Boxy  is a very simple modern sweater, with a very wide body and skinny sleeves. Worked with a lightweight yarn it is very flattering, drapey and stylish!  A little short row section in the shoulders adds an interesting texture to the sleeves.  Directions are given to make a seamless version (worked in the round) or a seamed version (worked back and forth) of the body. Practising Sock Heel Knitting

Sock Heels  Cute heels :)  How many times have you started to knit socks and  everything's going along just fine then -  you arrive at the heel :( Peptalk = Read and re-read the directions,  I can do this!! - I can do this!!...  Well, your knitting the heel flap, okay not bad and then  comes the dreaded....  "pickup so many stitches along the edge" -  Here comes trouble...  well we have planned the class for you!!
