August knitting classes @ Grey Heron

Here’s an update of our August knitting classes.

Wednesday - August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm  $10.00
“911 Knitting Afternoon” - It’s our version of help on demand. Are you working on a project that has you puzzled about techniques or perhaps is a bit advanced for you? Not to worry, come in on a Wednesday – it’s a drop in class where you can get the help you need to finish your project.

Classes on Wednesday afternoons;
Wednesday August 8th 1:00pm to 3:00pm $10.00 – How to knit cables without a cable needle – It’s not difficult. It’s faster…

Wednesday August 15th 1:00pm to 3:00pm $10.00 – Learn all about short rows. They make your sweaters fit better. Receive a short row scarf pattern FREE – so you can practise your new skill (value $5.00)

Wednesday August 22nd 1:00pm to 3;00pm $10.00 – Embroidery & Embellishments – have fun with this class. Learn simple stitches and touches that add to the finished look of your project. (4’ swatch homework required)

Classes on Thursday mornings;

Thursday August 9th 10:30am to 12:00pm $20.00 (includes $5.00 pattern) – Cabled Boot Cuff - 1st Small Project Learning Class
Learn provisional cast on, Kitchener stitch, cableless needle work, pick up stitches,
adjust for size and convert cuff pattern to more accessories.
Must have knowledge of knit, purl, cast on and cast off
 Thursday August 16th 10:00am to 12:00pm $20.00
Learn how to knit this fabulous shawl- Wingspan 
Short row project – pattern review – start set rows
Must have knowledge of knit, purl, cast on and cast off
 Thursday August 23rd 11:00 am to 2:00pm

Felted Slipper class – bet you can’t make just one!
Learn about felting. How to instructions provided.
Expert tips on creating the perfect pair.
Friday August 17th – 10;30am to 12:00pm - $20.00

Felted Clog Class  
Adult or child size – This is a purchased pattern
that we have on hand at the shop.
Pattern review, set up rows started, understanding
of project construction
Friday August 24th – 10:30am to 12:00 FREE (provided you have taken one of the previous felted slipper/clog classes
This is our wrap up class for the felted slipper or clog classes. We can help you finish up and make suggestions for suede slipper bottoms.
Receive a Felted Bucket Hat pattern.

Spring Sweater Knitting

Who's tired of the cold winter winds and ready to knit a great Spring sweater?  Well, I think many of us are ready for those tulips and crocuses to show up.  Have you heard about Joji's Boxy sweater line up? These easy fit fun toknit sweaters have been designed in several styles and yarn weights.  Have a  look...  The Boxy was Joji's first design like this. It has a unique construction with interesting details and lots of easy knitting.  Boxy  is a very simple modern sweater, with a very wide body and skinny sleeves. Worked with a lightweight yarn it is very flattering, drapey and stylish!  A little short row section in the shoulders adds an interesting texture to the sleeves.  Directions are given to make a seamless version (worked in the round) or a seamed version (worked back and forth) of the body. Practising Sock Heel Knitting

Sock Heels  Cute heels :)  How many times have you started to knit socks and  everything's going along just fine then -  you arrive at the heel :( Peptalk = Read and re-read the directions,  I can do this!! - I can do this!!...  Well, your knitting the heel flap, okay not bad and then  comes the dreaded....  "pickup so many stitches along the edge" -  Here comes trouble...  well we have planned the class for you!!
