It's a rather nice collection of colours.

My fortune says: You will be doing something new at work

Wow, I couldn't agree more. Every once and a while an opportunity presents itself... it sure did today. So, many thanks to XYZ, well suffice to say you know who you are - the timing was perfect., just like the day Rhichard and I sat down for our first meeting. I'm staring at the Master Colour Mixer's yarns- gorgeous beyond belief... of course my mind jumps to ideas - great we could make socks, hats oh and a beautiful lacey shawl- and so the first opportunity shows up.... The pattern development stage evolves... so much time invested to knit, tweek, reknit, draft the pattern, review and review again... as of today we have about a dozen patterns ready to launch at the TNNA show in Long Beach CA.... op number two... Then, the timing to introduce "Beginner weaving" classes at the shop. You heard it here first... Are you curious about weaving? Want to try your hand at weaving- stay tuned for class info - op number three One never knows from one day to the next the c...

Evening in Paris

Image
This cute little beret is hot off the needles. Tomorrow I will block it but for today, I wanted to share it with you. This gorgeous yarn by Rhichard Devrieze http://www.rdyarns.com/ in colourway Into the Shadows was just perfect for my memories of downtown Paris in the evening. The dark purple skies, reflection from the river combined with the golden light beaming from the lamp posts. This is one of a series of hat patterns that will be ready for Rhichard to take to the TNNA show in Long Beach CA. The beret takes only one skein - now you can make more!! The directions will have two types of decreasing patterns, two types of cast ribbing and two sizes - a traditional beret size and  today's fun slouchy version. It is so much fun watching the colours evolve. In no time at all, you too can have a new topper to wear. Now, for my next hat.... hum sideways slouchy I think... time will tell

Process versus Project - which type of knitter are you?

Ok, this is an interesting topic. Is process knitting all about the techniques used to knit a project? Is project knitting all about knitting a project that you already know the needed techniques? Tricky choice.... I enjoy the challenge of trying something new- pushing myself out of my comfort zone, but on my terms. By that I mean, when I'm ready I will tackle that new stitch or cast on. Sometimes it's because I see a beautiful pattern and want to knit it. After reading through the pattern details I think, OK, when I'm ready I'll come back to this and try it out. I like to try the new stitch or XYZ in a swatch format, so it is easier to tink or unravel it and start over again. Until then, I'll be a project knitter... get it? It's exciting to start something new, see the progress, watch the lace stitches  unfold, or the colourwork come alive and then you reach the end - hum let down- just a little? OR thrilled to have accomplished the process? Which ever one ...
