Teamwork - Got your back !! - that's my take-away

Last night Jim & I went to hear Scott Kress http://summittraining.com/speak about his Mount Everest climbing adventure. It was a fabulous evening. Scott has the same sense of humour his Mom Donna has. Donna works here @ Grey Heron. She's provides the shop with all our knitted samples, teaches classes, stops in to drop off something and stays for hours helping customers. She is one in a million!!

After listening to Scott's focus on teamwork. "Your team makes or breaks the climbing experience". He asked us to find similiar situations in our lives that would require a good solid team. People you can count on to "watch your back" as he put it.  I related that to running a small business.
Each member of the team works together - promotes the business - provides a pleasant experience for customers, knowledgeable about products and provides helpful service. If everyone practiced that with each and every customer - WOW, what a place to shop!! You start to pull away from other shops that do not have those practices.
Heather facilitates our Thursday drop in Knit Cafe. She makes the knitters feel welcome, has a story or two to offer (Yarn Harlot readings = laughter), is usually working on more than one interesting project and welcomes shoppers to our fibre shop.
Again, a good solid team member -
My husband Jim is there for me always. Right now he is putting up the shop Christmas lights. I have the inside decorations to place, set up the "Christmas Gift" table, the tree, dress the mantal and general tidy up. It nevers ends to tasks required each and everyday.
In summing up, if you have a good solid team working with you - fortune shines down on you!!
