Fall Workshop with Cheryl Toy of Little Church Knits




We are so excited to have Cheryl Toy of Little Church Knits join us for our Fall Workshop here at Grey Heron's new location in the bay side city of Belleville. 

Cheryl is an passionate knitter, designer, podcaster and instructor. 


Each module has a brief description of the class and with Cheryl's flair for teaching, you will learn an abundance of techniques, skills and tips/tricks. 

Each module will have a break at the halfway point for refreshments. 

The workshop will be located at 25 Pinnacle St. S, Belleville, ON K8N 3A1


Here's our line up:    

Skills Building – 3 hour module - $65.00 – 
Beginner + - Friday Oct 13th 1pm to 4pm

Here’s your chance to learn and brush up on techniques- gain confidence and add new skills to your daily knitting process.  
  
Magic Loop, Tubular Cast On, Long tail cast on (two versions), 
Stretchy Bind off, Three Needle Bind Off, Provisional Cast on

Strand and Steek – 6 hour module - $120.00 – 
Intermediate (intrepid advanced beginner)
Saturday Oct 14th - 9am to 12pm – 1pm to 4pm

Strand = Traditional two-handed knitting using more than one colour of yarn

Steek = Steek stitches are in addition to your knit in the round patterned colourwork. Once your knitting is complete, the steek stitches mark the way for you to cut your work open so that it is now flat piece of knitting. Several methods of finishing those raw edges will be discussed and the by hand method will be used.

This class is a project driven workshop where traditional two-handed stranded knitting is taught. The morning unit will begin with a quick tutorial on continental knitting to enable participants to carry yarn in both hands.

We will continue with a discussion on colour theory and colour dominance.
The project will feature a set of 4 Fair Isle Coasters mixing and matching charted colourwork patterns. The Steeking process will follow.

Knit to Fit – 3 hour module - $65.00 – 
Beginner + - Sunday Oct 15th - 9am to 12pm

How many times have you knit a project like a sweater or vest only to discover it doesn’t fit!?
Have no fear, learn from Cheryl how to read the pattern sections referring to fit, bust measurements, finished measurements, positive ease, negative ease and other features to know about.
What size should I knit? How to take your own measurements. What style suits me?
Bring your very favourite sweater with you – to be used as a reference piece

Mosaic knitting – 3  hour module - $65.00  - 
Beginner + Sunday Oct 15th 1pm to 4pm

Here’s a fun technique using two colours creating a pattern usually from a chart by slipping stitches. The finished look is wonderful!! 
Angular and Geometric patterns in a repetitive charted format create an interesting lighter and more flexible finished project.
This project class will have a pattern for a hat – knitting in the round.

Materials list 
Each module has a required materials list. We will notify you what to bring. If you need to purchase the supplies from Grey Heron, you will received a 20% savings.

One module = $65.00 - sign up for 2nd, 3rd and 4th module at $58.00 each 

Cancellation -

Workshop module fees are non-refundable.If you unable to attend your registered paid class, please notify us a minimum of 48 hours in advance. We can offer you either a shop credit or register you for a Spring workshop module.
